Who Are Fellow Traveller?

Founded in 2011 by Chris Wright, Fellow Traveller are an indie publishing label dedicated to supporting developers expanding the boundaries of games as a storytelling medium. They have published a vast array of award-winning games, including Citizen Sleeper, Genesis Noir, and Beacon Pines. Upcoming titles include the four-times IGF-nominated Titanium Court, restaurant-management RPG The Hearth and Harbour, and Nirvana Noir, a detective game set beyond time and space.

As a small, self-funded label, Fellow Traveller is able to release between three and five games a year, but also engages with and supports the wider indie narrative game development community through events such as LudoNarraCon, an annual digital festival celebrating narrative games, held on Steam every year since April 2019. Indie Hive has covered LudoNarraCon since its inception; previous years’ coverage can be found here.

What is the Story Rich Showcase?

The Story-Rich Showcase is a brand-new video showcase dedicated entirely to story-rich indie games and taking place within the Summer Game Fest period at the start of June. The event will spotlight a lineup of 20-25 games, all chosen on a purely editorial basis with no paid or sponsored slots and no costs for participating developers to take part.

Story-rich games focus on story, storytelling, or deeper narrative design, as well as the importance of the story within the overall design and format of the game. Story-rich games often feature deep, emotional or political themes which can struggle to stand out when placed alongside more bombastic or mechanically-focused titles.

The Story Rich Showcase will give fans of this style of game an event that will really highlight these titles and give story-rich developers an opportunity to get their games in front of the people who will love them. Fellow Traveller’s aim is to shine a spotlight not only on the games in the showcase but also on the wider story-rich category of indie games in a similar way to how Wholesome Direct has helped to raise the profile of cosy games.

The showcase will be broadcast on the Fellow Traveller YouTube and Twitch channels and on a Steam event page, with the VOD to be available on the Fellow Traveller YouTube channel.

What to Expect from the Story Rich Showcase 2026

The featured games span a range of genres and themes from retro horror to mystery thrillers to unexpected romance, but all boast the strong storytelling aspect that fans of narrative-focused games love.
